HTTP stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol and HTTPS stand for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure, while HTTPS has everything to do with security am afraid i cant say the same for HTTP.

You see every time you visit a websites with an HTTP connection, its means the connection is not encrypted and it is easy for someone to steal your information, which is why i don't recommend make purchases on a website with an Unencrypted connection, someone can tap in to that and steal your credit card information.

When HTTP was created it was only a way of sharing information, security was not an issue then, now that everyone knows how to exchange information online security has become an issue, which is why HTTPS was now created.

HTTPS relies on SSL Certificate to encrypt the online data. this  means that the sender and recipient agree upon a "code" and translate their documents into random-looking character strings, kind of like a cypher which would need deciphering.Using HTTPS, the computers agree on a "code" between them, and then they scramble the messages using that "code" so that no one in between can read them.
